Why NovaKit exists

Claude is a remarkably capable model. The problem is that most people prompt it the same way — a sentence or two, no context, no research, no quality check. The output sounds like everyone else's AI output because it's using the same generic approach.

NovaKit skills fix this without requiring you to become a prompt engineer. Each skill gives Claude the research hooks, the narrowing questions, and the quality gate it doesn't have by default. You get consistent, specific, publish-ready output on the first run — not a starting draft you have to spend 20 minutes editing.

Unlike generic AI tools, NovaKit skills are built for specific outcomes: a LinkedIn post that earns reach this week, a PRD that shapes what engineers actually build, a pitch deck section that handles the question an investor will actually ask.

The other reason NovaKit exists is repetition. If you write cold emails, listings, lesson plans, or product specs regularly, you are re-explaining the same standards to Claude every single time — the structure you want, the clichés you hate, the compliance line you must not forget. A skill file captures that once. The methodology stops living in your head and starts living in the tool, which means the tenth output is as disciplined as the first, and a colleague running the same skill gets the same standard without being coached.

NovaKit skills vs Claude's built-in Skills feature

This is the most common point of confusion, so it is worth stating plainly. Anthropic ships a built-in feature in Claude called Skills — the capability inside claude.ai and the Claude desktop app that lets anyone create, upload, and run a skill. That feature is the platform. It is made by Anthropic and it is free with your Claude account.

NovaKit skills are not that feature. They are third-party, pre-built .skill files that run on that feature — written methodology frameworks you download from NovaKit and upload into your own Claude account. Anthropic provides the slot; NovaKit provides something to put in it. You could write your own skill file for free and many people should. What you are buying from NovaKit is the methodology inside the file: the research steps, the narrowing questions, the output structure, and the quality gate, already worked out and tested.

NovaKit is an independent product. It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Anthropic, and "Claude" is Anthropic's trademark. The relationship is the same one an app developer has with an operating system.

How we build and test skills

Every NovaKit skill goes through the same build process. It is deliberately unglamorous — most of the work is deciding what the output must contain before a single instruction is written.

1. Define the artefact, not the topic. A skill is never "write about business plans." It is a named deliverable with a fixed shape: a 12-section plan of 15–25 pages with a one-to-two page executive summary written last and placed first; or three cold email variants of 50–125 words each with three subject lines apiece. If the deliverable cannot be described that precisely, the skill is not ready to build.

2. Work out what makes the artefact fail. Each skill is built around the specific ways its output gets rejected in the real world. Cold emails get deleted at the opener, so the skill hard-blocks the openers that trigger an instant delete. Lender-facing business plans die on missing DSCR, top-down TAM claims, and a "we have no competitors" line, so the plan skill calculates DSCR, forces bottom-up financials derived from price × volume × conversion, and requires an honest competitor table with acknowledged weaknesses. These failure modes become the quality gate.

3. Write the narrowing interview. Generic input produces generic output, so every skill opens by asking two to three questions that are specific to the task — target role and signal for a cold email, audience type (bank, investor, grant body, incubator) for a business plan. The questions are capped deliberately: enough to make the output yours, few enough that the skill still finishes in one sitting.

4. Add the live-research step. Before writing, the skill checks what is current rather than relying on what was true when the model was trained. This is the step that separates a skill file from a saved prompt.

5. Build the anti-slop quality gate. The gate runs after drafting and before you ever see the output. It checks the draft against the failure list from step 2 and rewrites internally when the draft fails. You get the corrected version, not the first attempt.

6. Test against real briefs and publish the actual output. Each skill is run repeatedly on concrete scenarios — a regional 3PL applying for a $180,000 facility, a logistics ops buyer being cold-emailed — and the run is judged on whether the result could be sent or submitted without editing. The output preview on every skill page is a real example of what the skill produces, published in full so you can judge the quality before paying. If a skill's own preview would not survive its own quality gate, it does not ship.

7. Revise as the ground shifts. What earns reach on LinkedIn or gets a reply in an inbox changes. Skills are updated when the underlying practice changes, and updates are free for anyone who already owns the skill.

The honest limitation: this is a solo operation, so testing is hands-on judgement against real briefs rather than a large automated eval harness or a panel of external reviewers. Skills are graded on whether the output is usable as-is, and the published previews are the evidence offered for that claim.

What you actually receive

A purchase is a file, not a subscription. After checkout you land on a delivery page that verifies the payment and gives you a direct download of the .skill file; the same download link is emailed to the address you used at checkout, so you keep a copy if you close the tab.

Installation is three steps and takes under a minute: in Claude, open Customize → Skills → + and choose Upload a skill; drop in the downloaded .skill file and wait for it to validate; then type / in any chat and pick it from the menu. It works on claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, and the free Claude plan is enough for most skills — a paid plan mainly helps with long documents like full business plans and pitch decks.

Because it is a file in your own account, the skill is yours. There is no seat, no login to NovaKit, no usage meter, and nothing that stops working if NovaKit does. You run it as many times as you like on your own Claude subscription.

How the business operates

NovaKit is a one-person, bootstrapped business with no external funding and no team. That shapes everything about how it runs.

Pricing is flat and one-off. Individual skills start at $5, with most priced around $9. Bundles group the skills for a single role — founder, marketer, creator, educator, realtor, student, legal and business, video and podcast, creative — and start at $15, with an all-access option covering the full library. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

Payment is handled by Razorpay. NovaKit never sees or stores your card details; the checkout confirms the payment and the delivery page unlocks the download against that confirmation.

Refunds are seven days, no questions asked. Email [email protected] within seven days of purchase and you get your money back. The reasoning is simple: a digital file cannot be un-downloaded, so the only honest policy is one that assumes good faith.

What NovaKit is not

A few things worth saying out loud, because they save people money.

NovaKit is not a replacement for expertise. A business plan skill will structure a lender-ready document and force honest financials, but it cannot know your market better than you do — and the plan skill ships with a legal disclaimer for exactly that reason. Skills that touch legal or financial territory produce drafts for a professional to review, not advice.

NovaKit is not an autonomous agent or a separate app. Nothing runs without you; every skill executes inside your own Claude chat, using your own account, when you invoke it.

And NovaKit is not magic prompt engineering. The intelligence is Claude's. What a skill adds is a methodology — the questions to ask, the research to run, the structure to follow, and the standards to enforce — packaged so you do not have to rebuild it every time.
